Argentine Tango Club The club’s mission is to provide the graduate student community and the larger Buffalo area an opportunity to learn to dance Argentine tango and explore other dances at little to no cost. The club offers free weekly practices, three social dances, and two tea time milongas each semester. Our mission is to explore music, dance styles and culture as we learn to dance and teach what we learn to others Tango  
Emerging Practices The Emerging Practices GSA explores the technical, tactical, cultural and communicative potential of emerging technologies in such domains as interactive multimedia, robotics, simulation systems, computational media, biotechnology, and image synthesis. We provide opportunities for students to share work, bring in visiting artists and lecturers, and co-organize a yearly symposium. For more information contact: Derek Curry EP  
Graduate Americanist Group The Graduate Americanist Group (GAG) is an interdisciplinary group of graduate students with members from such diverse departments as English, History, Comparative Literature, Sociology, and American Studies. Through our long history, we’ve interrogated issues in American literature, literary theory, culture and politics with events from informal feedback sessions to critical symposia. Graduate Outreach Club The Graduate Outreach Group will act as a liaison between graduate students and social service people, relief and rehabilitation providers, local and international NGOs and US NPOs. We will work towards educating and inculcating interest in graduate students towards social work. We will be holding events to help fundraise for organizations such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Association for India’s Development, WNY Peace Center, and the Wathershed Management Group. Graduate Poetics Group The Graduate Poetics Group (GPG) is a student organization whose purpose is to support Poetics activities, poetry scholarship, and literary arts related to activities at the University at Buffalo. It was founded in 2007 and is hosted in the English Department. It is open to all graduate students at UB, including MA candidates, and currently has students from many departments including Comparative Literature, English, Media Study, Philosophy, and others. Human Factors and Ergonomic Society The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, SUNY at Buffalo Student Chapter is organized to serve the needs of the human factors profession at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Its purpose is to promote and advance the understanding of the human factors and how it is involved in the design, manufacture, and use of machines, systems and devices of all kinds through the interchange of knowledge and methodology in the behavioral, biological, and physical sciences. The SUNY Student Chapter is established as an affiliate of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the top level professional society in the field. HFES HFES
Intercultural Understanding Club Intercultural Understanding Club is dedicated to bridging the gap between different cultural groups within the diverse University communities. ICU aims to hold seminars, meetings, cultural interactions, cultural and art exhibitions based on dialogue, tolerance, love and respect as universal values. Since misunderstanding mostly stems from lack of information, ICU aims to overcome this lack of information by its inclusive and diverse activities.    
LP Mania The LP Mania club promotes passion of music throughout campus. The club focuses on gramophone records and provides a platform for the graduate student community to share, support and teach an appreciation of music. The club mission is to explore the musical tonality, performance technique and the recording sound quality as we share our gramophone record and musical experiences with others. We also hope that our audiences can have a meaningful discussion regarding specific records and or musical pieces during our weekly events. For more information contact: Chenxu Liu    
Medieval-Early Modern Student Association The Medieval-Early Modern Student Association fosters interdisciplinary discussion and research for those students and faculty who work on various aspects of Medieval-Early Modern culture, history, philosophy, politics, literature, art, etc. This fall, they are hosting Eileen Joy (Southern Illinois University, Lead Ingenitor of the BABEL Working Group, Co-Editor of postmedieval: a journal of medieval cultural studies), on Oct. 1, 2012. Soccer Fan Club The Soccer Fan Club promotes soccer among graduate students on campus. Most games are free or inexpensive. We aim to offer the best soccer experience for graduate students and organize soccer games at least twice a week to give everybody a chance to play for fun! For more information contact: Sa Zhang    
UB- Primatology Club The mission of the University at Buffalo Primatology Club (UBPC) is to enhance the reputation of UB as a center for primate studies, foster connections between undergraduate and graduate students who share an interest in nonhuman primates, and bring students of all majors together to encourage inter-disciplinary collaboration. We aim to achieve these goals through hosting an annual symposium, inviting speakers to lecture about their research, and holding events to enhance education. We also hope to aid the community by investing our time in activities related to community service. UB-Primatology  
UB Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (UB-EERI) The UB-EERI Student Chapter is devoted to the expansion and dissemination of knowledge related to earthquakes as well as the improvement of earthquake-resistant design, and the implementation of seismic hazard mitigation procedures. This organization deals not only with technical aspects of structural design, but also with socio-economic issues of earthquakes such as preparedness, response, search and rescue procedures, and recovery measures in order to minimize loss of lives and property.    
UB Society of Feminists (UB-SoFem) The University at Buffalo Society of Feminists (UB-SoFem) promotes equality and understanding of feminist-based issues through education, awareness, and activism. UB-SoFem will work with UB students, faculty and staff to encourage their empowerment around issues of inequality on the micro, mezzo and macro levels. The feminist platform for which we advocate extends to social, political, economic and cultural issues. UB-SoFem is a feminist-based organization that welcomes perspectives and individuals from all disciplines and professions. For more information contact: Elise Blasingame
