Editorial Assistance Service

*PLEASE NOTE* The GSA will temporarily stop accepting submissions for Editorial Assistance as of July 9th, 2015.  We are currently in the process of hiring new Editorial staff and the current staff will need time to clear the queue by completing previously submitted works.  We will re-open the service for submissions on August 1st, 2015 once the new Editorial staff is in place.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Graduate Student Association provides the following services through the Graduate Writing Center: Editorial Assistance and Tutorial Support. These services are provided for the assistance of Graduate Students who are preparing term papers, theses, dissertations, articles for publication, curricula vitae, and other writing projects. Please feel free to visit us during posted office hours, or contact us via e-mail, with questions and/or appointment requests.

Editorial Assistance

GSA provides free Editorial Assistance in order to help graduate students improve the quality of their papers and dissertations. Editors help students with basic proof-reading. Turnaround times may vary according to the length of the submission, the amount of editing required, and the number of projects pending with the editors. Please allow up to 3 weeks for completion. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Please note: This program should not be used as a substitute for thesis guidance and/or a structured teaching program. Students are responsible for attending tutorial sessions, or seeking outside assistance, if submissions require substantial revisions for grammar, punctuation, and coherence. Editorial assistance is not a drop-off service only; when editorial concerns require instructional support, students must make a reasonable effort to work with our editors in revising and resubmitting their own work, or in seeking outside assistance when recommended. Priority will be given to those students who have met with an editor and have submitted a contract that includes anticipated deadlines, a schedule for revisions, and instructional support.

Editors cannot be held responsible for omissions, errors, or delays since this is not a paid professional service. Editors, who are also UB graduate students, are not directly obligated, through any contract to other students, for services provided. However, we assure you that the editors maintain the highest professional conduct. Please be patient with editors so that they may better assist you with your work.

The GSA can only serve graduate students who pay the Student Mandatory Fee.
