I study the development of heritage sites in Britain, primarily focusing on commemoration practices and preservation campaigns. My interest is piqued by battlefields, world’s fairgrounds, and political protest locations. My research tracks what happens to these places after their historic events occur, often considering the additional lenses of heritage tourism and urban planning.

A secondary area of interest includes sport in the British Isles, particularly extinct sport places and the migration of golf to continental Europe and North America in the late nineteenth century. My Master’s thesis at St Andrews explored class considerations and nationalism during the first century of the Open Championship.
