FLEFF DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival Fellows program brings outstanding doctoral students from groups underrepresented in higher education to Ithaca College for four days to participate in screenings, lectures, and workshops within an engaging, interdisciplinary environment.

The festival fellows engage Ithaca College faculty and students from across campus as well as with festival guests to explore linkages between sustainable development, globalization, race, ethnicity and gender in order to stimulate new research and thinking in the areas of sustainability.

Doctoral students from a wide variety of disciplines are encouraged to apply for a FLEFF Fellowship. The fellowship covers transportation (up to $500 for air fare), shared accommodations, meals in Ithaca and a festival pass.

Applicants should submit a CV and a personal essay. The essay should explain how attending FLEFF might enhance your education and how the theme of the 2015 Festival, LANDSCAPES, may relate to your academic or professional interests. Applicants who are at least in the third year of a doctoral program will be given preference.

Participants Needed ~ Research Study on Emotions

Emotion Study

Researchers in the Affective Science Lab at the University at Buffalo are recruiting participants for the Emotion Study. To be eligible, you must be currently seeking or receiving mental health treatment and 18 years or older. Participants come to our lab located on UB North Campus for one 3-4 hour session that includes interviews and questionnaires (compensation = $40). You may then be invited for a 10-day follow-up study completed from your home (compensation up to $50).

Call for Posters: 2016 Women in STEM Summit

The Women in STEM Cooperative (WISC) invites undergraduate and graduate women students at the University at Buffalo to present posters at the 2016 Women in STEM Summit being held on April 13th at the University at Buffalo. We are seeking students who have been significantly involved in research either with their own research project or through meaningful involvement with an ongoing faculty project. The poster session will run concurrently with a reception where students will have the opportunity to network with Summit attendees, including corporate sponsors. Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate and sponsor students to share their university research in any of the science, technology, engineering, mathematics or related fields. Students are responsible for printing their posters and bringing them to the Summit on April 13th.

Submission Criteria:
• Undergraduate or graduate women students in a STEM field at the University at Buffalo
• Research projects must represent a significant investment of time by the student outside of normal course requirements and class projects

• Abstract (100 words or less)
