Native GSA Anti-Columbus Day Events

October 14, 2013 @ 11:00 am - 8:00 pm

Steven Newcomb

On Monday, October 14, members of the Native Graduate Association will be joining the larger UB community in a variety of events to help provide a counter-narrative to the American holiday of Columbus Day.  From 11AM-2PM, students and faculty will be outside the Student Union talking to members of the UB community about the real legacy of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas.  From 3PM-4:30PM, Jolene Rickard will be giving a talk in the Center for the Arts.  At 6PM, the Native Graduate Association will be hosting Steve Newcomb in 120 Clemens for a talk pertaining to Columbus Day.  The talk will last until 8PM, and food will be providing first-come, first-serve at 5PM, before the talk.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend!  Please see attached flyers for more information.  Any questions can be directed to Jennifer Loft (jcloft@buffalo.edu) or Jodi Maracle (jmaracle@buffalo.edu).
