Three Minute Thesis (3MT) ~ Communicating to a Non-specialist Audience Workshop

October 26, 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

3MT Communicating to a Non-specialist Audience

Friday, Oct. 26, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

6 Norton Hall

North Campus

Attend this workshop to learn how to effectively communicate the importance and potential impact of your research in just three minutes to non-experts. For success in today’s fast-paced world, the ability to briefly describe your research and its purpose is crucial. Jordan Walbesser, In-House Counsel at Mattel, Inc., will outline tips and strategies for communicating to non-specialists through casual conversation, at a professional conference or, in a pitch competition. Mr. Walbesser will present an invaluable perspective based on his experience as a judge for Buffalo’s popular 43 North pitch competition. Finalists from last year’s UB 3MT competition will share practices used to target and refine their pitches for non-specialist audiences.  All graduate students are welcome to participate in this session regardless of eligibility or intent to enter the competition.

The Graduate School is pleased to provide 3MT workshops in collaboration with UB’s Blackstone LaunchPad.
