My research focuses on Catholicism in Early Modern England, particularly during the Tudor and Stuart periods. After writing my Master’s thesis on the personal and political relationship between Princess Mary Tudor and Imperial Ambassador Eustace Chapuys, my research focus has moved from the 1530s to the 1630s. Here, I am looking at the practice of the Catholic faith in the years just prior to the English Civil War, and those whose expressions of faith led many Protestant leaders to believe that Charles I was implicit in a “Popish plot” to return England to the Catholic Church.
